Bishop Anthony L Handley

Bishop Anthony L. Handley was born in Louisville, Kentucky to Rochelle & Theotis Carney. He answered the call to preach in 2006 and received his license to preach the gospel in April 2007 under the leadership of Bishop Walter Smith Jr. of New Horizon Full Gospel.
While developing his preaching ministry, he served in numerous capacities at churches throughout the city. He served as Deacon under the leadership of Pastor Stephen Smith at Mt. Hermon Missionary Baptist Church. From 2007 – 2014 he served as Youth Pastor at New Horizon Full Gospel. His commitment to mentor the youth of this city led to his nomination In 2013 by his mother-in-law of St. Stephens church for the Louisville Defender newspaper’s “Real Black Men in the Community.”
On July 5, 2014, Bishop Handley, through divine instruction and led by the Holy Spirit, founded Village Worship Church, a creative ministry geared towards meeting the spiritual needs of the community and the city of Louisville at large.
On July 20, 2025, Pastor Handley was ordained as Bishop by Bishop Victoria Carney of Ministries of Christ.
Elder Handley has been loved and encouraged over 28 years by his beautiful wife, Dawn Handley. They have five beautiful children, Berea, Deonte, Asiah, AJ, and Starr.
Bishop Handley is highly innovative with a courageous vision as he continues to plainly teach God’s Word and implement ministries that nurture the spiritual growth of youth and the Village Worship Church family.
